Guest Writer Wednesday: Mychael Black!

Today’s guest writer is the amazing Mychael Black! Mychael’s writing is deep and scintillating, a truly rare combination. Her work is poetic and haunting, pairing smoldering sex alongside holler-deep, soulful characters. In other words, it’s the kind of writing that I dig best!

Mychael agreed to take the Sara Jay’s Erotica interrogation–I mean interview!–with us this week.

Share a little bit about your writing style. What genres and types of heroes/heroines are you attracted to? What do you love to write about?

When it comes to genres, I’ll try writing almost anything once, but I have an affinity for fantasy and paranormal. As for the heroes/heroines… I loved characters who are flawed in some way, whether that flaw is visible or not. I love pretty men, rugged men, scarred men… the list goes on. Women, I like them to be curvy and intelligent, very independent, and possess a bit of a smartass streak. I don’t write wallflowers of any gender.

What can we expect when we experience one of your books?

Well, my hope is that my books provide a bit of an escape. I love hearing from readers who got so involved with the characters, so sucked into the world, that real life disappeared.

Tell us a little about your latest release, or your favorite among all of your books.

I have a lot of favorites in my own backlist, to be honest. Some are due to the worlds, some due to the characters. If I had to pick one, though, it would be the latest addition to my sci-fi series with Changeling Press. Coriolis is the series, and book one (Distress Signal) is out now. Book two (Kill Fee), however, was amazingly fun to write, and I’m thoroughly in love with Morgan and Joren–the two main characters in book 2. That one comes out at the beginning of April, I believe.

If you could have one date with a crush (before marrying your spouse if necessary!), who would it be and why? What would you do?

*snorts* That’s easy. Johnny Depp. As for what we’d do… *grins* Do I REALLY have to explain that one?

What’s the most romantic thing someone ever did for you, or that you did for someone else?

When my partner, Al, proposed for a handfasting (pagan marriage/union). He knows I love Godiva chocolates, so when he proposed in 2001, he put the ring under a truffle in a box of four. We were sitting in his car when he gave me the box.

Share your favorite romantic or sexy song and why you love it so much.

“Mea Culpa” by Enigma. It’s… hard to describe. If you’ve ever listened to anything by Enigma, you’ll understand. It’s seductive and sexy and soul-deep.

Anything else?

Guest Writer Wednesday: Kameron Brook and Dirk Tyler!

dreamsFor today’s Guest Writer Wednesday special, Kameron Brook and Dirk Tyler are visiting with us! Kameron and Dirk, a passionate couple in and out of the bedroom, decided to join forces and bring their erotic imagination to life with words. Their solo stories are electric; however, the works they create together will practically sizzle off the page. Yes, they might live in a quiet suburban neighborhood, but they’re anything but tame and unadventurous, a fact you shall read and learn about soon enough.

Share a little bit about your writing style. What genres and types of heroes/heroines are you attracted to? What do you love to write about?

Dirk and I don’t restrict ourselves to one genre. We feel everyone deserves love so we try to vary our stories accordingly.

Every story will have a happy ending because we wish that for our readers’ own love lives.

What can we expect when we experience one of your books?

We like to keep our ideas fresh but include many steamy moments. I think we have succeeded so far.

Tell us a little about your latest release, or your favorite among all of your books.

Kam and Dirk collaboration – “Dreams Really Do Come True” (F/F)

Angi didn’t plan on sleeping with her co-worker. She was still getting over a failed relationship. However after a night of movies, and too much wine, Angi passed out and then the most vivid dreams occurred. When she woke, she didn’t fight the spark brewing all night. Angi took the initiative and made her dreams come to life.

If you could have one date with a crush (before marrying your spouse if necessary!), who would it be and why? What would you do?

Dirk and I wouldn’t mind hanging out with the Winchester boys from Supernatural. What we would do? What wouldn’t we do? (winks)

(Note from Sara: Ohhhh yes. I would have to say the same!)

What’s the most romantic thing someone ever did for you, or that you did for someone else?

Dirk arranged for us to go to Hawaii for our anniversary last year. That was an unforgettable trip.

Share your favorite romantic or sexy song and why you love it so much.

Our music tastes are more into rock than slow songs. However, “I’m Sexy and I Know It” is on my work out playlist. That’s sexy, right? (smiles)

Anything else?

February 17th, we have another release going live with Changeling Press. “Sinfully Delicious” is a M/F story that centers around a woman biting the bullet and attending a speed dating event because she’s been unlucky finding a date on her own. It’s there she meets Mr. Sin. Readers will find bits of humor mixed in with the steamy moments. We hope it’ll be another hit with our fans. 🙂

Guest Writer Wednesday: Ayla Ruse!

AR_SH_Zarakions_largeToday’s guest writer is another fabulous artist from Changeling Press, Ayla Ruse. Not only is Ayla a fellow Changeling contest winner, she also homeschools like I do, so we have a lot in common! Check out Ayla’s interview and an excerpt from her latest book, Zarakion’s Tip, below.

Share a little bit about your writing style. What genres and types of heroes/heroines are you attracted to? What do you love to write about?
At this time I write exclusively erotic romance. Sometimes it’s contemporary, sometimes it’s futuristic, sometimes it’s paranormal…and I’ve even written a horror erotic romance. No matter what I write, though, I always begin with my characters. My hero or heroine will speak to me, beg for their story to be told, and I go from there. As to the types, I don’t know that I have a norm? I’m attracted to strong, independent and confidant characters in any story I read, so I try to ensure my own characters have or develop these characteristics themselves. I like characters who – if not at the beginning of the story, then at least by the end – know who they are and are confidant with their life and any decisions made within. To me, a person with confidence is sexy as hell, and I hope to translate the same through my stories. Continue reading “Guest Writer Wednesday: Ayla Ruse!”

Guest Writer Wednesday: Megan Slayer!

Every Wednesday at Sara Jay’s is Guest Writer Wednesday. Today we are interviewing one of my absolute favorite erotic romance writers, Megan Slayer!

Every Wednesday at Sara Jay’s is Guest Writer Wednesday. Today we are interviewing one of my absolute favorite erotic romance writers, Megan Slayer!

When she’s not writing the stories in her head, Megan Slayer can be found luxuriating in her hot tub with her two vampire Cabana boys, Luke and Jeremy. She has the tendency to run a tad too far with her muse, so she has to hide in the head of her alter ego, but the boys don’t seem to mind.

When she’s not obsessing over her whip collection, she can be found picking up her kidlet from school. She enjoys writing in all genres, but writing about men in love suits her fancy best.

Currently hanging out every Wednesday and Friday at the Menagerie Authors site, hunting Hotties for the Saturday posts, and working on the next great story brewing in her head! The cabana boys are willing to serve, unless she needs them. She always need them. So be nice to Javier or he will bite–on command.

She also masquerades under the name Wendi Zwaduk and is published through Changeling Press, Liquid Silver Books, and Total-E-Bound Publishing.

Megan agreed to give me an exclusive interview, as well as some info on her latest book. Check it out below! Continue reading “Guest Writer Wednesday: Megan Slayer!”
